NanoString uses tech to assess ties between tumor cells and immune cells

August 31, 2021 -- NanoString Technologies is directing attention to research published online August 26 in Cell involving its GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP) technology.

In a study involving 28 mismatch repair-proficient tumors and 34 mismatch repair-deficient colorectal cancer samples, researchers from the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard used single-cell transcriptomics, in situ hybridization, and GeoMx DSP to assess the mechanisms governing interactions between colorectal tumor cells and tumor-infiltrating immune cells.

The researchers quantified cellular programs defined by single-cell RNA sequencing and mapped their interactions using the GeoMx Cancer Transcriptome Atlas assay across 135 regions of interest in a subset of tumors with a high number of potentially tumor-reactive T cells. This revealed the spatial transcriptional regulation that organizes immune-malignant cell networks, according to the company.
