908 Devices reports revenue dip for Q2 2021

August 5, 2021 -- 908 Devices reported a 26% decrease in revenues for the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in the prior year.

For the second quarter (end-June 30, 2021), the company reported revenue of $8.3 million. During the second quarter of 2020, revenue was $11.1 million. The year-over-year decline is due to a shipment of 150 MX908 handheld devices to one customer in the second quarter of 2020, according to the company.

Gross profit was $4.4 million for the second quarter of 2021 compared to $6.4 million for the same period in 2020. Product and service gross margin was 53% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to 58% for the corresponding prior year period.

For 2021, the company changed its expected revenue forecast to $40 million to $43 million. Previously, it was projected to be between $38 million and $40 million.
