Bio-Techne, Leica launch RNA probes for COVID-19 research

August 19, 2020 -- Bio-Techne and Leica Biosystems have announced the automation of RNAscope COVID-19 probes on Bond Rx, Leica's staining platform, for research use only. This gives researchers the ability to automate COVID-19 research protocols, reduce labor, and speed up turnaround times.

Bio-Techne believes that the RNA probes will help researchers gain a greater understanding of the pathogenesis of COVID-19.

Leica's Bond Rx is a flexible, open staining platform that can run RNAscope (in duplex or multiplex) protocols. RNAscope probes are designed to detect SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA, SARS-CoV-2 viral replication sequences, and cellular receptors targeted by the virus such as angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and transmembrane protease, serine 2 (TMPRSS2).
