Berkeley Lights reports revenue spike in Q2

August 11, 2021 -- Berkeley Lights reported an 82% increase in revenue for the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period a year ago.

For the second quarter of 2021 (end-June 30, 2021), revenue was $19.3 million. Revenue was $10.6 million in the second quarter of 2020. Revenue for the first half of 2021 was $37.9 million, which is a 56% increase over the first half of 2020, according to the company.

Berkeley Lights reported a gross profit of $12.7 million in the second quarter of 2021 compared to $6.9 million during the same period in 2020.

The company also launched a subscription model, TechAccess, which expands customer access to the company platform. Also, the company expanded the installed base to 92 platforms, with seven new direct placements shipped in the second quarter.

Berkeley Lights expects 2021 revenue to total $90 million to $100 million, which would represent 40% to 56% increase from 2020.
