July 15, 2020 -- Waters has named Udit Batra, PhD, as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO), effective September 1.

Batra, who will join the company's board of directors at that time, will succeed Christopher O'Connell, who will remain with Waters as an advisor until the end of 2020.

Batra served as CEO of the life science business of Merck of Darmstadt, Germany, which operates as MilliporeSigma in the U.S. and Canada.

In other news, Waters expects to report sales between $517 million and $523 million for the second quarter of 2020. This is a decrease of between 13%-14% from the $599 million in sales the company brought in during the same quarter in 2019, according to preliminary unaudited financial information.
