August 10, 2021 -- Moderna has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Canada to build a mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility in Canada.
The new facility would also have access to the company's mRNA development engine, according to Moderna. The goal of the collaboration is to support Canada with direct access to rapid pandemic response capabilities that could be activated on an urgent basis, as well as provide access to Moderna's vaccines in development for respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, seasonal influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and potential other vaccines, pending licensure, the company said.
Moderna said it's also in discussions with other countries about similar collaborations.
