Loop Genomics debuts SARS-CoV-2 sequencing service

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

April 17, 2020 -- Loop Genomics has launched a new service for long-read sequencing of long amplicons of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Loop Genomics uses Illumina's short-read infrastructure and software to generate viral amplicon long reads with only one in 25,000 errors per base pair, enabling strain and quasispecies resolution, according to the company.

Hospitals and public health and reference laboratories can use Loop's long polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplicon kit with their existing Illumina sequencers to generate SARS-CoV-2 long reads.
