July 28, 2021 -- Thermo Fisher Scientific said it is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
This commitment supports the global goals of the Paris climate agreement and the United Nations' Race To Zero campaign and will further advance the company's current strategy to mitigate its impact on the environment, according to Thermo Fisher. The new pledge incorporates additional targets to reduce the company's value chain emissions, including a commitment to the most ambitious guidelines of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Thermo Fisher previously announced carbon reduction efforts in 2019 that aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its operations by 2030. These goals are also aligned with the SBTi criteria, according to the firm.
