The product expands on the company's original three-color naica system and includes reagents and digital PCR consumables, automated analytical instrumentation, and turnkey visualization software. The new system offers biomedical researchers a high level of digital multiplexing at a lower cost than next-generation sequencing, making it suitable for routine testing, the firm said.

Stilla is offering scientists the opportunity to experience the dPCR system with a hands-on or remote demonstration. Researchers with existing quantitative polymerase chain reaction or dPCR assays may request to have their assays tested using their own samples, or they can use an available six-color assay from Stilla.

Stilla has scheduled the commercial launch of the product for the fall.

Recently, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts issued a settlement order of dismissal for a patent infringement suit brought against Stilla by Bio-Rad. Stilla will have certain intellectual property rights from Bio-Rad in the field of digital PCR, supporting the company's deployment of its dPCR product and services.
