May 17, 2021 -- Deerfield Management and Baylor College of Medicine have entered into a major research collaboration to advance promising therapeutics through the Blue Square Discoveries program. Deerfield has pledged up to $130 million over 10 years to Blue Square Discoveries with the goal of accelerating Baylor's biomedical discoveries and bringing therapeutics to market.

Under the agreement, Deerfield will provide funding and operational support to advance mutually agreed upon research initiatives to the market. Deerfield will help Baylor expedite treatments for patients across a broad range of therapeutic areas. In exchange for funding, Blue Square Discoveries would receive an option to license intellectual property developed at Baylor.

With the launch of the agreement, Baylor researchers will have the opportunity to submit proposals for review to a committee made up of scientific leadership from both Baylor and Deerfield. Accepted projects will receive resources and expertise to bring them from the discovery research phase to clinical testing. Successful projects may receive additional funding from Deerfield.
