Scispot launches Datarooms to enable data management in life science labs

September 16, 2022 -- Life science informatics company Scispot has introduced Datarooms, an extension of their Labsheets no-code relational database product that allows life science labs to automate data sharing and standardize data formats.

Datarooms allows life science labs to automatically share or receive data from team members, partners, collaborators, and contract research organizations (CROs) in their preferred human and machine-readable formats, according to Scispot's announcement.

The new database product also enables researchers to selectively transfer data among different audiences, including internal stakeholders, external collaborators, and customers. By allowing life science labs to control who can access and utilize which data, Datarooms helps to ensure data security and regulatory compliance, the company said.

According to Scispot, Datarooms can also help labs save money by standardizing data formats and automating the transfer, structuring, cleansing, and utilization of data. The goal is to accelerate data-driven R&D decisions and ensure high quality, connected data.

The recent transformation of life science research to a distributed and virtual R&D model, often involving multidisciplinary teams in multiple locations, brings with it challenges in managing data generated by different players in various formats. However, Scispot makes the case that current lab information management systems may support this new R&D model less effectively.

"We created the Datarooms extension based on the requests of data teams, outsourcing managers, and researchers at biotech companies and CROs. Datarooms fills an important lab data management gap by letting life science labs securely receive or share slices of data directly in specific formats," said Satya Singh, Scispot's co-founder and president.
