Vizgen expands product roadmap, releases FFPE Human Immuno-oncology data

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

June 8, 2022 -- Vizgen has announced the expansion of its product roadmap and the availability of the Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) Human Immuno-oncology data release, as the company seeks to provide the research community with the power of spatial genomics.

The new publicly available FFPE Human Immuno-oncology dataset, which was generated with Vizgen's Merscope platform, represents the largest public data set for single-cell spatial genomics ever released, according to the company.

Vizgen product roadmap updates for the second half of 2022 include: FFPE Sample Preparation Solution enabling Multiplexed Error Robust Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (MERFISH) measurements on FFPE tissue samples; Protein Co-detection Kit for the simultaneous detection of RNA and proteins during a standard MERFISH experiment, enabling multiomics measurements; and 1,000 plex gene panels for the detection of up to 1,000 gene targets within a single MERFISH experiment, resulting in higher gene target coverage.

The updates were announced at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology 2022 General Meeting.

FFPE human ovarian cancer sample was analyzed by Merscope using a 500 gene panel, together with a cell boundary staining kit to label the cell boundary. Cells are segmented and subjected for single cell analysis. Seventeen cell types are identified in the sample and colored to show the spatial distribution of different cells across the sample.
