By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

June 25, 2021 -- Quantum-Si announced it has entered into a lease agreement with Phase 3 Real Estate Partners to develop a 25,586-sq-ft product development and operations facility in San Diego.

Quantum-Si manufactures semiconductor chip-based proteomics. The company's technology enables single-molecule, next-generation protein sequencing and digitization of proteomic research.

The new facility is being designed to scale production and expand research and development efforts. The company said the location was selected due to its network of talent to support research and development activities and to partner with local experts who can contribute to drug discovery, academic research, and diagnostics.

The company said operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2021.
