Promega reagent plus Eppendorf cycler enable 15 min PCR amplification

June 8, 2021 -- Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification can be completed in as little as 15 minutes with the combined use of Promega's GoTag rapid master mix and Eppendorf's Mastercycler X50s thermal cycler, according to the firms.

Promega's GoTag rapid master mix includes a Taq polymerase with hot-start antibodies that allow for room-temperature reaction assembly and may reduce primer-dimer and nonspecific DNA amplification. The mix enables a traditional three-step amplification process that can take up to one to two hours to be condensed into two phases.

When paired with an instrument with a rapid temperature ramp rate, like Eppendorf's Mastercycler X50s, amplicons 1 kilobase (kb) or greater can be amplified in as little as 15 minutes.
