September 1, 2020 -- Promega has debuted Spectrum Compact CE, a benchtop capillary electrophoresis (CE) instrument.
Developed in collaboration with Hitachi High-Tech, the personal CE system is an integrated DNA analysis instrument that enables Sanger sequencing and fragment analysis to be performed by life scientists at the bench, according to Promega. Other features include flexible run scheduling, separate plug-and-play consumables, and on-site installation and operational training, Promega said.

It supports applications such as microsatellite instability analysis, mixed sample analysis, forensic short tandem repeat (STR) analysis, and cell line authentication, Promega said. The instrument also can process up to 32 samples in a single run and can be controlled by either the integrated touchscreen or by additional software that allows access from any registered computer on the same network, according to the company.
