August 7, 2020 -- Illumina has launched its NovaSeq 6000 v1.5 reagent kit, intended to make genome sequencing more accessible and affordable for labs of all sizes with the introduction of the "$600 genome."

The new kit delivers data-rich applications, such as single-cell genomics, whole genome sequencing, and liquid biopsy, to researchers to help them unlock the full story of genetic variation, according to the company.

The NovaSeq 6000 v1.5 reagent kit with Illumina's NovaSeq 6000 sequencing system provides deep sequencing, access to data-intensive next-generation sequencing applications, and sequencing of large sample cohorts at an affordable price, Illumina stated.

The new reagent kit also has improved quality specification scores, fully supported unique molecular identifiers, extended shelf-life from three to six months, and support for new library prep kits and assays.
