August 27, 2019 -- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) announced on August 27th, that it was awarding six early career researchers the Genomic Innovator Awards. The program will award a total of $500,000 over the course of five years.
The NHGRI created the Genomic Innovators Awards in 2018 to compliment the more traditional NIH grants. These awards will support investigators studying genome biology, genomic medicine, technology development and societal implication of genomic advances. The researchers selected for these special awards have outstanding records within the genomics field. The NHGRI hopes that the funding will facilitate creative, ambitious and innovative research.
