Adare adds development lab to Ohio facility

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

January 26, 2021 -- Contract development and manufacturing organization Adare Pharma Solutions is opening a new small-scale development laboratory in Ohio.

The non-good manufacturing practice (GMP) laboratory contains two rooms that are physically separated from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) GMP certified pilot and production areas. The new labs provide customizable, flexible systems that will expedite formulation and process development services for customers. Specifically, the facility will enable production of smaller batches using less active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

The facility mirrors the company's existing pilot and production capabilities, but will also provide customers with immediate-release, modified release, taste-masked, or other custom formulation solutions through its proprietary technologies. These include:

  • Microcaps for taste-masking via a solvent or aqueous-based coacervation process
  • Diffucaps that incorporate release-controlling polymers or protective coatings onto drug-layered cores, granules, or crystals
  • MMTS Multi Mini Tablet System in which functional membranes are applied to 1-2 mm cylindrical tablets to control release rates
  • Other microspheres and microcapsules
