Sartorius to acquire Novasep's chromatography division

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

January 6, 2021 -- Sartorius has entered into an agreement through its subgroup Sartorius Stedim Biotech to acquire the chromatography process equipment division of Novasep.

The proposed acquisition will bolster Sartorius' position in downstream bioprocessing and build upon the companies' research and development partnership. Novasep and Sartorius have been working since 2018 on an optimized system for membrane-based low-pressure chromatography that processes larger molecules more productively. A product is expected to be launched soon.

The companies agreed not to disclose the purchase price until necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained. The transaction is expected to close during the first half of 2021.
