November 20, 2020 -- CliniStart, a new firm, seeks to be the preferred partner for clinical trial startup functions with a focus on clinical trial contracting.

CliniStart will manage all aspects of the clinical trial contract development and negotiations process, as well as investigator grant budget procedures. CliniStart uses software to reduce administrative burdens and eliminate bottlenecks, the firm said.

CliniStart's founder and CEO Sam Searcy previously co-founded Clintrax Global and served as a global contracting account leader for partnerships with large pharmaceutical sponsors. He also created the Fair Market Value program to ensure compliance with physician payment laws and regulations, according to a press release.

The CliniStart board of directors includes Veracyte General Counsel and Executive Vice President James Erlinger; Blue Cross N.C. CEO Emeritus Brad Wilson; and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill bioethicist Louise Winstanly.

Additionally, CliniStart has received investing from Kevin Gordon, former Quintiles chief financial officer and chief operating officer, and Mike Mortimer, the partner and founder of GHO Capital Partners.
