Thermo Scientific launches reagent dispensers

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

February 11, 2020 -- Thermo Scientific has launched a new family of high-precision digital reagent dispensers that are designed to facilitate the miniaturization of assays and improve throughput for scientists across multiple applications.

The Multidrop Pico 1 and Pico 8 digital dispensers are designed to minimize the loss of reagents and the need for reruns, offering cost savings, improved reproducibility of results, and higher laboratory throughput. Both products also reduce the potential for human error and repetitive strain injuries that are typically associated with manual pipetting processes.

Multidrop Pico 1 and Pico 8 are designed to dispense reagent volumes between 11 pico-liters (pL) to 200 micro-liters (µL) in any well. They also meet the requirements for a wide range of low-volume applications, such as quantitative polymerase chain reactions (qPCR), dose response curves, drug screening assays, serial dilutions, genotyping reactions, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays.

Multidrop Pico 1 and Pico 8 sport disposable, noncontact dispensing heads, and the systems eliminate carryover, protecting sample integrity and improving data accuracy. The systems can be used in conjunction with qPCR reagents from Thermo Fisher Scientific.
