Reaction Biology, 4HF Biotec offer new cell-based services

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

October 19, 2020 -- Reaction Biology and 4HF Biotec announced that they are offering a new cell-based service that will give customers a comprehensive understanding of their candidates. The service will combine Reaction's ProLiFiler cell assay service with 4HF's Biomarker Analysis and Mode of Action (MoA) Finder tools

4HF has data from a comprehensive database including over 1,800 preclinical samples over multiple cancer types that are integrated into a single platform for visualization and statistical analysis. The biomarker tool includes data from mutations (whole-exome sequencing), gene copy numbers, and gene expression. The finder tools identify the MoA by comparing sensitivity profiles of the drug candidates.

Reaction Biology's cell line assay contains over 140 cell lines, and each assay will be applied to each cell line to determine the correlation of the drug sensitivity to each gene with regard to the expression level, mutation status, and/or somatic copy number for the biomarker analysis. The sensitivity profile is compared to more than 700 drugs for the MoA.

"This will give our customers deep insight into the likely genetic response to the drug candidates they test with us," said Haiching Ma, PhD, chief science officer of Reaction Biology. "A cell profile study can shine a spotlight on what a compound is doing, but combining that with 4HF's bioinformatics creates a roadmap for our customers' further development."
