Riffyn, Imperial College partner to speed up synthetic biology research

September 24, 2020 -- Riffyn and Imperial College in London have formed a partnership aimed at bringing Riffin's Nexus process data system to the public synthetic biology research community in the U.K.

As part of the multigroup collaboration, process-driven research methodologies will be established at Imperial College through doctoral education and by equipping biofabrication facilities with a digital backbone for laboratory automation and data analytics, according to Riffyn. The partnership will enable Nexus to be used on a large scale in an open academic setting, the company said.

Research groups at the Imperial College's Centre for Synthetic Biology will work with Riffyn to test and develop Nexus for academic research use cases. In addition, Nexus will be implemented across the London Biofoundry SynBio stack. What's more, a new center of excellence will support the training, use, and integration of Nexus across the college's research labs, according to the company. An ongoing educational program will also train doctorate-level students to become expert Nexus users.
