Agilent unveils new handheld raw material ID system

March 31, 2020 -- Agilent Technologies has launched Vaya Raman, a handheld raw material identity verification system for pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Designed to speed up quality control testing in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, Vaya verifies the identity of raw material through unopened transparent and nontransparent packaging, according to the firm.

As a result, incoming goods can be quickly tested in their sealed containers upon receipt at the warehouse, enabling more tests to be performed at the same cost. Furthermore, the product also avoids exposing handlers to high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients and maintains the shelf life of sterile contents, Agilent said.

Vaya combines Agilent's spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS) technology with conventional Raman spectroscopy to support testing with a wide range of packaging, according to the firm.
