Microscale flow chemistry uses 'switchable solvents' to improve extraction
New green technology enables accelerated screening and retrieval of "switchable" solvents for chemical and pharmaceutical applications. Utilizing microfluidic strategies, researchers developed an in situ approach to study gas-liquid processes in a time- and material-efficient manner. Bacterial evolution reveals method to fight antibacterial resistance
Different types of bacteria have evolved to develop unique mechanisms for achieving the same antibacterial function -- a finding that could lead to new ways to combat antibacterial resistance, according to scientists from Trinity College Dublin. Fluorescent molecular probe used to detect temperature inside individual cells
Modified biocompatible molecular rotor, termed boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY), has been shown to detect temperatures inside single cells. Researchers at Rice University led by chemist Angel Mart√≠ published the technique in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B.  Discuss
