September 16, 2021 -- Research informatics firm Flywheel has acquired imaging data management and analytics firm Radiologics. Flywheel supported the acquisition with a $21.5 million financing round.

Both firms are now operating as Flywheel and offer a biomedical research platform that can connect any organization or dataset across academia, life sciences, clinical, and medical artificial intelligence sectors. In addition to Flywheel's cloud-based platform, the combined firm will offer Radiologics' products and services, including imaging informatics.

The funding round was raised in conjunction with the acquisition and will help further expand Flywheel's infrastructure. More financing is expected in the upcoming weeks, the company said.
