June 15, 2021 -- Elsevier company SciBite and L7 Informatics are partnering to deliver ontology management to support discovery and collaboration in the life sciences.

The new feature utilizes SciBite's CENtree software within L7's Enterprise Science Platform (L7|ESP); it will be available in 2021 and allow users to leverage ontologies to guide data capture, align data to an established library standard, and improve search and analysis of data within the platform.

Ontologies are organized as a hierarchy to represent the relationships between scientifically related terms. Semantic enrichment of ontologies enables unstructured scientific text to be transformed into clean, contextualized data that can be understood and exploited by computational approaches such as artificial intelligence.

The combination of the CENtree ontology management platform to build and distribute scientific ontologies and the (L7|ESP) workflow and data management system will establish a platform for standardizing, analyzing, and exchanging data and process information for the life sciences, according to the firms.

L7|ESP unified platform for workflow and data management establishes a best-in-class platform for standardizing, analyzing, and exchanging data and process information for life sciences.
