Veranome unveils complete spatial omics workflow

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

March 1, 2021 -- Veranome Biosystems has unveiled its complete sample-to-insight high-plex spatial omics workflow enabled by the company's Pisces technology.

Pisces provides the ability to map thousands of custom gene panels in tissues at subcellular resolution with high gene counts per cell and high sensitivity. The in situ spatial imaging platform is paired with validated assays and a complete software suite, according to the firm.

Through its Pisces Partner Program, Veranome has two facilities in Singapore and Mountain View, CA, that provide laboratory space for customer service projects and initial manufacturing, quality testing and further development of Veranome's instrument and reagent products. Veranome plans to offer beta units of its high-plex spatial omics platform as a standalone instrument to customers later this year with expanded availability targeted for 2022.

Veranome Biosystems was formed from a multiyear research collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research's Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) and Applied Materials. The company combines GIS' deep understanding of the genomics analysis workflow and biological applications, including single-cell sequencing and bioinformatics, with Applied Materials' extensive experience in high-speed diffraction limited optical imaging, high-content image analysis, and integrated manufacturing process control.

The technology will be presented on March 2 and 3 at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) 2021 General Meeting.
