June 8, 2020 -- Research informatics firm Flywheel has introduced an enterprise-wide image management platform geared for the life sciences market.

Designed to meet the image-management needs of large life science organizations, Flywheel for Life Sciences is a research data management system that can capture imaging and related data from multiple sources in different data silos, including contract research organizations and historical clinical trials, according to the vendor.

The software integrates with existing data pipelines and software tools to ingest multimodality data and then consolidate, curate, validate, and disseminate the data to analytics and machine-learning platforms, Flywheel said. It supports collaboration with multidisciplinary teams both in and outside the organization. Other features include high-speed bulk loading, horizontal and vertical scaling, version control deployments, and provenance to support audits, the company said.

Delivered as a fully managed service, Flywheel for Life Sciences can be deployed on cloud services such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, according to the vendor.
