Thermo Fisher, Structura Biotechnology unveil particle analysis software

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

August 3, 2022 -- Thermo Fisher Scientific and Structura Biotechnology are partnering together on a new, single particle analysis software. The software will be a version of Structura's CryoSparc Live and will integrate with Thermo Fisher's Smart EPU software and cryo-transmission electron microscope (cryo-TEM) technology.

Embedded CryoSparc Live will be offered as a subscription and enables cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) users of all experience levels to obtain high-quality data while reducing the time it takes to transform raw data into 3D protein structures from days to hours, the firms said.

The software will offer real-time cryo-EM data analysis including pre-processing, particle picking and extraction, streaming 2D classification, ab-initio 3D reconstruction, and streaming 3D refinement. The data can be used with Smart EPU plugins and can automatically adjust EPU data acquisition parameters in real-time.
