Bruker acquires Prolab Instruments

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

January 20, 2022 -- Bruker has acquired Prolab Instruments, a company that specializes in low-flow, high-precision liquid chromatography technology and systems. The acquisition will complement Bruker's scientific instruments and analytical and diagnostic solutions.

Prolab's innovations center on micro and nano ultra high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) pump technology. The company developed zirconium splitless pump technology for flow rates from nanoflow (4-800 nL/min) to cap flow (1-10 μl/min) regimes. The Zirconium Ultra nano- and cap-UHPLC system supports a broad range of flow rates from 4 nL/min to 10 μl/min at 1,000 bar (15,000 psi), and is suitable for cap liquid chromatography in high-throughput proteomics and metabolomics.

Prolab launched the innovative Zirconium Qube autosampler with proprietary mobile injection unit technology that integrates the injector valve and loop and moves to each sample vial to minimize carryover. Prolab also offers Zircofit fused silica connectors, which are known for their flexibility, robustness, and ease of use, according to the company.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
