Scientist.com, CROs to offer cancer model finder

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

June 16, 2021 -- Scientist.com has partnered with contract research organizations (CROs) to launch Disease Model Finder, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool that helps identify preclinical oncology models.

Disease Model Finder helps researchers use genetic, cellular, and patient data to find the most appropriate research models. The company's partners have uploaded and analyzed DNA sequencing data that researchers can query for models based on the presence or absence of a mutated gene or by the up or down regulation of gene expression. Search results can be filtered based on cancer type, subtype, and characteristics of patient information.

Currently, the platform includes 1,400 patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models. By 2022, Disease Model Finder will include cell-derived xenografts (CDX), syngeneic models, and patient-derived cell lines.
