DNA Script's benchtop DNA printer to receive final assessment

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

May 20, 2021 -- DNA Script announced it is entering the final phase of evaluation of its Syntax system, a benchtop DNA printer powered by enzymatic synthesis.

Syntax is designed to require less than 15 minutes of hands-on setup and synthesize DNA in as little as six hours, producing 96 ready-to-use oligos in parallel, according to the company. Ten companies and organizations that installed Syntax in their labs will provide usability feedback to DNA Script during the final evaluation, which follows an earlier evaluation by more than 30 companies.

In a separate development, DNA Script has partnered with GE Research and Moderna to use its technology as part of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Nucleic Acids On-Demand World-Wide Program.
