Canada orders 20M doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

September 23, 2020 -- The Canadian government increased its confirmed order commitment to 20 million doses of messenger RNA (mRNA)-1273, Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine candidate.

The government maintains the option of ordering an additional 36 million doses. Moderna still expects to deliver up to 56 million doses of the vaccine to Canadians by the beginning of 2021, according to the company.

The agreement comes on the heels of Moderna enrolling about 75% of participants in its phase III COVE study and 11,879 participants have received their second vaccinations as of September 18.
