Part 1: HelaPlex drives diversity and inclusion in the life sciences

March 23, 2022 -- How can the life sciences industry improve inclusion and equity and encourage a more diverse workforce? One solution is HelaPlex, a workforce development program created by Tia Lyles-Williams, an emerging biotechnology entrepreneur and founder of three companies.

Lyles-Williams recently partnered with IndyGeneUS AI for a $500 million government contract and is pioneering HelaPlex, a workforce development program for underserved communities and Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) students to enter or skill up in clinical lab roles.

In the first installment of a three-part series on ScienceBoard, Lyles-Williams speaks to the importance of intention and personal as well as corporate accountability in implementing a successful diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) plan in an organization.

Lyles-Williams describes HelaPlex's unique workforce development program and the role it plays in the biotech industry, as well as what makes HelaPlex unique from other life science coworking spaces.
