Alfa Laval first to launch premium separator range

January 12, 2022 -- Alfa Laval has introduced a new, unique single-use separator range, the Alfa Laval CultureOne Maxi, for biopharma processing.

Alfa Laval launched the first separator for single-use biopharma processing in small-scale production in 2020. Based on positive market reception, the company said it has expanded the offering to include a range of single-use separators that covers the scope from small lab production to large-scale processing.

CultureOne is used in processes to harvest fragile cell cultures that are later used for injectable drugs for treating life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, and to counter organ transplant rejection. Importantly, all product-contact parts in the separator system can be replaced after each batch, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination and increasing process hygiene and safety, the company said.

Alfa Laval has expertise in heat transfer, centrifugal separation, and fluid handling. It is active in the areas of energy, marine, and food and water, offering its expertise, products, and services to a range of industries in approximately 100 countries.
