October 1, 2021 -- The Consortium for Top-Down Proteomics has launched a new effort to build a proteoform atlas to understand disease mechanisms and accelerate diagnostics and drug development.
The Human Proteoform Atlas will be a definitive set of unique proteoforms capturing the diversity of proteins resulting from combinations of genetic polymorphisms, RNA splice variants, and post-translational modifications, Top-Down Proteomics said.
The atlas will be designed to interact with other important repositories and databases and is expected to benefit from broad community input provided by working groups during development, the consortium added.
An alpha version of the atlas is currently available.
