Thermo Fisher announces new spectrometers, facility, more

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

September 8, 2021 -- Thermo Fisher Scientific announced that it is building a manufacturing facility in Tennessee. In addition, it has released a line of spectrometers and a liquid chromatography system.

The company plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Nashville dedicated to the production of single-use products. This building is in addition to Thermo Fisher Scientific's previously announced expansion. The facility, which is expected to begin construction in the second quarter of 2022, will be one of the world's largest manufacturing sites dedicated to single-use technologies (SUT) and will more than double the company's SUT manufacturing capacity.

In other news, the company announced its new TSQ Plus triple quadrupole mass spectrometer portfolio, which consists of TSQ Altis Plus, TSQ Quantis Plus, and TSQ Fortis Plus MS. The portfolio is designed to increase workflow throughput through data acquisition and polarity-switching speeds. The portfolio's improved low-mass product ion transmission efficiency enhances sensitivity for key target applications. In addition, it offers intuitive mass calibration routines and method optimization.

Finally, Thermo Fisher Scientific unveiled its new Vanquish neo ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography system. The system is an all-in-one nano-, capillary- and micro-flow liquid chromatography (LC) system designed for high-sensitivity LC-mass spectrometry applications, technical capabilities, and integration with Thermo Scientific's PepMap neo columns and mass spectrometry portfolio. It aims to overcome the limitations of existing low-flow LC instruments.
