BD releases new reagents for enhanced flow cytometry data resolution

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

April 27, 2022 -- Becton Dickinson (BD) has launched a set of novel reagents, known as BD Horizon RealYellow and RealBlue Reagents, created with specialized dye technology and artificial intelligence (AI) guidance to improve flow cytometry insights.

The product line has optimally selected fluorochrome positions powered by AI analysis of the ideal excitation and emission profiles found in current commercially available fluorochromes. After conducting this analysis, BD designed dyes to fit these ideal profiles using cutting-edge dye technology.

Flow cytometry is a biomedical research technique with significant utility in biomarker discovery, drug development, and the expansion of immunological knowledge due to its potential for single-cell analysis, employing various dyes and reagents in the process.

The BD Horizon RealYellow and RealBlue Reagents optimize the capabilities of this technique for both conventional flow cytometry and spectral flow cytometry, while minimizing cross-laser excitation and background noise. These features promote more comprehensive cell analysis and expanded research insights.
