Illumina expands access to genomics in Latin America

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

April 20, 2022 -- Illumina has launched a new state-of-the-art facility in São Paulo, Brazil, that will expand global access to genomics in Latin America. The 11,000-sq-ft site features a fully operational lab equipped with Illumina technology to help train customers and partners throughout Brazil and Latin America.

The new Solution Center will enable Illumina to offer its partners an environment for demonstrations and training sessions to optimize their education and experience with next-generation sequencing and array technologies focusing on basic research and clinical applications.

Illumina also partnered with the Ministry of Health in Brazil to build a comprehensive public health network for tracking the spread of the virus. About 26 laboratories out of 28 in the country use Illumina's sequencing systems.
