Part 3: How does HelaPlex equip students for success in the life sciences?

March 29, 2022 -- How can the life sciences industry improve inclusion and equity and encourage a more diverse workforce? One solution is HelaPlex, a workforce development program created by Tia Lyles-Williams, an emerging biotechnology entrepreneur and founder of three companies.

Lyles-Williams recently partnered with IndyGeneUS AI for a $500 million government contract and is pioneering HelaPlex, a workforce development program for underserved communities and Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) students to enter or skill up in clinical lab roles.

In the third installment of a three-part series on ScienceBoard, Lyles-Williams describes why diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) plans are important in the life sciences, their real and tangible effects in the workplace, and how organizations can get started with DEI programs of their own.
