Qiagen EndoFree Plasmid Maxi Kit/ 12362

Plasmid Purification

I have spent the last 15 years working on the endotoxin response in a number of cell lines. After trying a number of different endotoxin preparations and plasmid preparations in more cell lines than I like to remember, I have determined that Qiagen really is the best way to prepare DNA for use in endotoxin response studies. I have tested the DNA in dose response curves and have found the DNA to be very consistent over a span of more than a year.

The kit itself is self-contained and comes with all supplies, except for some standard laboratory chemicals. A word of caution, while you have to add nothing by standard chemicals, these chemicals have to be kept endotoxin free.

The Qiagen kit comes with columns, buffers and special tips. The benefit of Qiagen kits is the fact that no special centrifuge is required and normal tubes can be used to spin the DNA from the columns.

Overall, the kit is very easy to use, does not require special equipment and the supplies have, in more than 10 years of me using the kit, never been short. I tend to save leftover reagents in case of a spill and the reagents have always worked beyond the recommended shelf life.
