Editorial Guidelines for Science Advisory Board Perspective Authors

Perspective articles summarize the viewpoints of the author concerning current or emerging issues related to science or medicine. The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that articles that are posted on The Science Advisory Board site are grammatically correct, and scientifically sound. The guidelines we'd like future authors to adhere to are as follows:

1. Correctness of the article in regard to clarity, conciseness, grammar, and spelling is the responsibility of the author.

2. Authors should write in clear, concise English. Authors whose native language is not English are encouraged to ask a colleague or for-hire editor who is proficient in English to help them edit their work. Extensive changes or rewriting of the Perspective article will not be undertaken by The Science Advisory Board staff.

3. References should be supplied to substantiate statements made in the submitted article.

4. Articles may not be accepted for a number of reasons, including inappropriate content or style or for other reasons such as the article does not offer a unique viewpoint of the life sciences or is simply not written well enough.

5. Length of the Perspective will vary depending on topic, however desired number of words is about 1,000.

Any questions relating to these Editorial Guidelines can be addressed to Catherine Seguin, Membership Coordinator c.seguin@scienceboard.net.
