Catching up with SAB Member, Shyam Rele, Ph.D.
Posted 12/17/2008

This week The SAB had a chance to catch up with Shyam Rele, Ph.D., a Senior Scientist at Calando Pharmaceuticals, on current research efforts and what’s occurred since we last spoke. You may have read a previous articles on Rele, his February 2008 Member Spotlight.

In May, “Nature mimicked on a Nanoscale”, on synthetic collagen self-assembly into nanofibers, was highlighted in Nature – India, located here. If you don’t have a subscription to Nature India, you may also read the article here. This research was also highlighted in The Alchemist Newsletter, a ChemWeb Magazine.

In June of this year, Rele was one of the few selected invitees to present his work at the Gordon Research Conference, attended by academia & industry.  The title of the presentation topic was "Targeted and systemic delivery of siRNA nanoparticles by cyclodextrin-based delivery agents."

Rele recently delivered a lecture on Delivery of RNAi Therapeutics at the 4th Annual Minnesota Nanotechnology Conference held November 11-13, 2008 and served as a Guest Editor for Current Bioactive Compounds (December 2008 issue).

We congratulate Shyam Rele on his achievements, and invite you join in the discussion in the Career section of our community forums.
