National Institutes of Health 2007 Research Festival
Posted 11/1/2007

On September 27 and 28, Catherine and Kathryn of The SAB presented the organization and its activities to the scientists at the National Institutes of Health 2007 Research Festival in Bethesda, MD.  A booth was set up in the Research Festival Scientific Tent Show, complete with informative fliers, in-depth brochures, free report summaries of the projects you all may have recently participated in, and last but not least, some goodies for interested researchers to take with them.

We enjoyed discussing The Science Advisory Board with all interested scientists at the Research Festival, and the number of current SAB members that dropped by to say hello was pleasantly surprising. Although some members knew to look for our booth (based on previous forum discussions and announcements), other members recognized our SAB logo in passing and stopped to introduce themselves.  It was nice to put a face to some screen names! During the two-day festival, we had the opportunity to discuss the research and methods of many NIH researchers, receive feedback on The SAB and its activities, and introduce many new faces to experience The SAB website via our on-site laptop.

As mentioned in our community forums, there was a contest to see which SAB member would be first to the table at the festival. Jennifer, currently doing research at NIH, was the first SABer we spoke to, and is now the proud recipient of a blue Science Advisory Board polo shirt complete with our company logo. For new NIH members who signed up before October 31 (and referenced the festival), we held a drawing for a Halloween candy basket to be delivered to their research lab. Congratulations are in order to Philip, a staff scientist, and his lab at the National Institutes of Health.

We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with all of you at the Research Festival, and hope to see you again next year.
