Wide Range of Member Benefits and Services

By registering as a member of The Science Advisory Board, you will become eligible to participate in a number of different benefits and services.

One major benefit is the opportunity to take an active role in the development of the tools and technologies that are so important in modern science and medicine.  By sharing their experiences and expectations through online surveys, members provide the medical and life sciences manufacturers with valuable feedback based upon "real world" use and experience.  This information is essential for improving existing products, introducing new technologies, and ensuring that the ever-changing needs of scientific and medical professionals are met.  Members of The Science Advisory Board, while compensated with Reward Points, are primarily motivated by the desire to impact product development and the evolution of new technologies.

There are also multiple avenues for Science Advisory Board members to contribute intellectually to this online community of medical and life science professionals.  Members are invited to write editorials on current or emerging clinical or research issues such as the accreditation of human research participant protection programs or the interchange of research tools between researchers in the public and private sectors.  Comments about these editorials can then be made through The Science Advisory Board Community Discussion Forum, which is a mechanism to facilitate discussion among members about these issues.

To help navigate the diversity of clinical and research-targeted Websites on the World Wide Web, The Science Advisory Board offers reviews of a multitude of these Websites.  These reviews are written by fellow Science Advisory Board members and include information on career resources, conferences, funding and grant opportunities, medical specialties, and scientific and medical databases.

Another exciting way to contribute to The Science Advisory Board is by writing book reviews on life science, medicine, history, policy and ethics or reference topics.  Members can also participate by reviewing new scientific or medical products.  In addition, The Science Advisory Board provides the following services to its members: access to the latest science and medical news, product and technology updates from industry, job announcement listings and resume posting opportunities.

The more tangible benefits to membership include cash drawings, prizes and most importantly, our reward points system.  For each study you participate in, you will receive 50 reward points that are automatically credited to your account.  Occasionally there will be an opportunity to earn more than 50 points if the study is particularly complicated or comprehensive.

The reward points act as a "frequent flyer" program and as you accumulate enough points, you may redeem them in our Gifts Catalogue for high-value gifts for yourself and others.  With the new site, there are now many more ways to earn points in addition to participating in studies.  These include contributing book or product reviews, posting in the Discussion Forum, and linking a Website or database with a short review.
